POSSIBLE PUNISHMENTS

Those found guilty of ragging may be awarded one or more of the following punishments, namely: (vide clause 9 of UGC regulations on curbing the menace of ragging dated 17th June, 2009)

🔴 Disciplinary Actions/Penalties

  1. Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges

    • Temporary ban from attending classes or accessing academic facilities.

  2. Withholding/withdrawing scholarship/fellowship and other benefits

    • Financial and academic incentives may be paused or permanently revoked.

  3. Debarring from appearing in any test/examination or evaluation process

    • Prevented from participating in internal or external assessments.

  4. Withholding of results

    • Exam or semester results may not be released until resolution.

  5. Debarring from representing the Institution

    • Not allowed to participate in:

      • Regional/National/International events

      • Sports tournaments, cultural fests, or youth festivals.

  6. Suspension/expulsion from the hostel

    • Temporarily or permanently removed from campus housing.

  7. Cancellation of admission

    • Student’s enrollment in the institution is nullified.

  8. Rustication

    • Suspension from the institution for 1 to 4 semesters (i.e., 6 months to 2 years).

  9. Expulsion from the institution

    • Permanent removal and barred from admission to any other institution for a specified period.

  10. Monetary fine

  • Fine of ₹25,000 may be imposed.
